• $2B bond package for infrastructure approved in N.C.

    3/16/2016

Voters in North Carolina approved a ballot measure that authorizes the state to borrow $2 billion for infrastructure projects. The University of North Carolina system and community colleges will receive about $1.3 billion of that for new buildings and other facilities. Local parks and water and sewer projects will get the rest of the funding. The governor proposed a larger package to include road and bridge construction, but it wasn't included in the final ballot measure.
