TRC serves a broad range of clients in industry and government, implementing complex projects from initial concept to delivery and operation.
    TRC is seeking a highly motivated Electrician to design, install and maintain light commercial and medical electrical systems in a research environment on the UNC campus in Chapel Hill, NC. We are seeking a candidate that will be able to test, troubleshoot, and repair industrial electrical equipment and associated electrical and electronic controls, perform basic and advanced preventive maintenance while identifying electrical problems with a variety of testing devices, and perform inspections on medical equipment and receptacles to verify electrical safety as described in NFPA codes, company manuals, and Standard Operating Procedures.
    The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:
    • Perform daily inspection of facilities equipment and document findings
    • Design, install, and maintain new electrical installations as requested by the client
    • Perform scheduled maintenance on electrical panels, air handlers, pumps, rotary screw air compressors, rotary screw vacuum pumps and receptacle systems
    • Ensure that electrical systems are in compliance with the current National Electrical Code (NFPA 70, 70B, & 70E)
    • Perform required electrical safety inspections of facility receptacles and equipment in subject areas as required by NFPA 99
    • Install, program, troubleshoot, and maintain multiple variable frequency drives
    • Document maintenance activities and parts usage via a commercial equipment management database application (PMC)
    • Generate/update standard operating procedures (SOPs), inspection forms, and/or company manuals to reflect changes in equipment and maintenance practices
    • Generate purchase orders and justifications as necessary to obtain outside services, equipment, or spare parts in accordance with small business subcontracting objectives
    • Perform annual inventory of spare parts and chemicals
    • Perform vibration analysis of on-site rotating machinery using a (i.e., Commtest) vibration analyzer with software (i.e., Ascent) to document these activities
    • Perform thermographic survey of electrical and mechanical systems with a thermographic camera (i.e.,Fluke Ti30) and software (i.e., InsideIR) to document these activities
    • Perform ultrasonic surveys (i.e., Ultraprobe) of electrical, mechanical, steam and air systems
