Job Description
    CALYX Engineers and Consultants, an NV5 company, is seeking a controller to join our accounting team in Cary, NC. The controller will be responsible for the preparation, maintenance, and reporting of the day-to-day financial activities, including management of staff to accomplish this directive. The most frequent and essential work activities include:

    • Plan, direct, and coordinate all accounting operational functions.
    • Responsible for month-end close (including reporting of financial information).
    • Manage and monitor cash flow.
    • Establish, monitor, and enforce internal controls.
    • Create and analyze office earnings, utilization, and booking/backlog reports.
    • Manage the budget process, including monthly reporting on goals and updating information.
    • Collect accounts receivable (billing process through receipt of payment and record of payment).
    • Manage accounting staff whose main responsibilities include project accounting, A/R, A/P, and billing.
    • Hire, train, and retain accounting staff.
    • Responsible for updating and maintaining fixed asset system.
    • Facilitate year end close and audit process with NV5.
    • Provide financial support and financial training to group managers and directors as needed.
    • Support staff with Deltek Vision reporting issues and questions.
    • Be liaison with NV5 accounting team.

    Prerequisites for employment include:
    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, finance or similar focus or equivalent experience
    • Minimum 10 years of experience in accounting field
    • Minimum of 2 years of management experience
    • Strong computer skills including intermediate to expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word
    • Deltek Vision software experience preferred
    • A/E/C industry experience a plus
    • CPA license a plus
    • Previous experience in public accounting a plus
    • Must possess or be able to obtain a valid driver’s license prior to employment-preferred

    • Must be able to carry, lift and push/pull up to 15 pounds.
    • Weekend and overtime work and/or overnight work and travel may be required.
