Michael O'Connor, Jr, PE, DBIA

Michael O’Connor, P.E., is a licensed structural engineer specializing in transportation infrastructure with a focus on bridge and roadway design. Over the course of his career, he has managed and delivered projects across North Carolina for the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT), including complex bridge replacements, culvert designs, and roadway tie-ins. His technical expertise spans structural risk analysis, seismic and scour design, and advanced modeling, supported by a strong command of AASHTO and state design manuals.

Beyond project delivery, Michael is an active leader in the engineering community. He serves on the Junior Board of Directors for ACEC/NC (2025–2027) and champions the Peer Connections initiative, helping connect and develop emerging professionals across the state. He is also a graduate of the ACEC/NC Future Leaders Program, reflecting his commitment to both technical excellence and leadership growth.

Outside of engineering, Michael is passionate about mentorship, professional development, and fostering meaningful connections within the industry.
