Bios:
Brett Tempest is an Associate Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering and the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs in UNC Charlotte's Lee College of Engineering. His research has revolved around infrastructure materials, especially concrete for highway and structural applications. He has particular interest in increasing the durability and sustainability of reinforced concrete by incorporating recycled materials and promoting enhanced design and testing methods. Since the early 2000's Dr. Tempest has undertaken several NCDOT funded research projects within these topics.
Tara Caval line, PhD, PE, is a Professor in the William States Lee College of Engineering at UNC Charlotte. Her research focus areas include concrete and cementitious materials to support durable, sustainable infrastructure, quality assurance in construction, use of recycled and byproduct materials, and asset management. Dr. Cavalline has been at UNC Charlotte since 2006, and prior to that worked as a consulting engineer in Charlotte.
Trey Carroll is the Assistant State Structures Engineer. He oversees NCDOT – Structures Management Unit’s (SMU) Program Management and Field Operations.
