Joel Strickland

Joel serves as the Transportation Planning Practice lead at McAdams with experience in multimodal planning for multiple agencies, including private consulting firms, Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPO), Rural Planning Organizations (RPO), and county planning departments. With over 17 years of experience in MPO and RPO planning, over two years of being the interim and assistant county planning director, and over a year in private consulting, he has completed many projects for local governments, departments of transportation, and planning organizations, much of which also included participation from and coordination with military bases. His experience includes metropolitan transportation plans (MTPs), comprehensive transportation plans (CTPs), metropolitan transportation improvement programs (MTIP), multimodal projects, urban transit and community transportation, grant administration, zoning, and long range land use planning. Joel is very familiar with the North Carolina Department of Transportation
(NCDOT); Federal Highway Administration (FHWA); and Federal Transit Administration
(FTA) planning and program requirements, and has experience participating in various
FHWA and FTA compliance and certification reviews.
