Professional Bio

Patrick Gallagher is a Senior Bridge Engineer at WSP in Raleigh. He graduated from Washington State University in 1999 and has over 25 years of experience in structural engineering, spending the last 10 years of his career working on projects in the Southeast. Patrick has led bridge condition inspections and has served as Engineer of Record on numerous bridge design and rehabilitation projects.

Patrick’s bridge design experience has had a strong focus on precast superstructures and substructures as he has been involved with Accelerated Bridge Construction since it started taking hold in the early 2010’s. He recently served as the Regional Bridge Construction Specialist for the Georgia / Carolina’s Chapter of the Precast Concrete Institute and is very familiar with Accelerated Bridge Construction.

Patrick also has design experience with steel bridges, steel truss load rating, wood framing for commercial and residential buildings. He has designed two culverts, including one in Ontario, Canada. He has experience with bridge repair, both steel and concrete, and pedestrian bridges.

Patrick is a confident and capable public speaker, project manager, and mentor. He is also a published author for technical engineering work.
