Shannon Sweitzer, PE
Principal and Senior Engineer at Goins Sweitzer Engineers and Consultants
Shannon Sweitzer is a seasoned engineering and business leader with extensive experience in transportation infrastructure and project delivery. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from North Carolina State University and an MBA from Meredith College.
Shannon’s career began at the North Carolina Department of Transportation, where he served in multiple leadership roles, including State Roadway Construction Engineer and Director of Construction for the North Carolina Turnpike Authority. In these roles, he oversaw all aspects of project delivery, including preconstruction, procurement, materials, construction oversight, right-of-way acquisition, and utility relocation.
In 2012, Shannon transitioned to the private sector, joining a regional engineering firm as Director of Transportation and a key member of the executive team. He was the firm’s initial hire in transportation and successfully built the division from the ground up, growing it to a 170-person team serving the Midwest and Southeast.
In 2023, leveraging his experience in leadership, operations, and business strategy, Shannon co-founded Goins Sweitzer Engineers and Consultants, a firm dedicated to delivering innovative solutions in transportation and infrastructure.
Beyond his professional roles, Shannon is actively engaged in industry organizations and has contributed to several national research oversight panels. His expertise in strategic growth, project management, and infrastructure development makes him a valuable resource for both engineering and business professionals.
